Self Assessment

My English for special purpose classes are coming to an end so for that occasion I decided to write my final self assessment and make conclusions regarding to my progress. So without further introduction let us begin.
ESP vocabulary test for me were quite difficult, but nevertheless I believe that the knowledge I got from learning all the definitions was really worth the time I spend while studying.

Writing summaries was one of the most time consuming and demanding tasks of all. I remember spending hours in trying to compose a good summery, but still failed to get a decent mark. Writing in an official style was not as simple as I thought it would be.

I also was assigned to present some power point presentations or as we call them PPP’s. It was quite interesting to do this task, because I had the ability to deepen my understanding about a particular subject and explain it to my classmates with a colourful presentation I made. Sadly, but the spelling in the presentation was not perfect. Nevertheless I am happy with the result.

Moodle test were not the hardest part of my ESP classes. I found them quite easy. The most important thing while doing them is not to be distracted and everything should be ok.

Online listening in class was one of the most fun and interesting activities in the ESP classes. I think that the tapes were very interesting and useful and the fact that we were listening to native English dialect speaking individuals is also nice. I believe that now I will be able to understand faster in English speaking people.
All in all, the ESP classes were very useful and I think that I will be carrying out a lot of knowledge from them.

Self Assessment

This will be the last written entry in my weblog and also in my ESP classes. In this short self assessment I am going to finalise my classes and point out my achievements and maybe throw in a few weaknesses just to keep things in balance. So without further introductions let me begin.

My ESP classes are almost over. As far as I know there will not be any more English for special purpose studies in the study programme which is understandable because this in my opinion very important class has gone through the whole first course of my studies. I really think that these studies were very useful because they gave me the chance not only to enlarge my ability to speak English more fluently but also deepened my understanding about the science of psychology. I believe that this double power will be a good support for my further academic improvements and also will be used afterwards. So let me start boosting about good things that happened.

I believe that my grades in the ESP classes really showed my knowledge of the subject we were studying and also reflected the ability for me to express it in a foreign language and were objective. Nevertheless I think I could have performed better if more time would have been given for some subjects and the number of assignments was lesser.

The biggest weakness I clearly found in myself while studying is the spelling. This part of the English language is very hard for me to grasp, but I am not planning to let my hands down and will further try to improve.
All in all I think that this year was very interesting and useful for me. The ESP classes were definitely not the easiest but undoubtedly the most useful ones.
